At the Pandora plenary meeting in Caen, I gave a short talk on how to characterize difficult examples in order to better understand datasets and improve machine learning models. The talk highlighted why prediction errors should be analyzed beyond a simple binary view, since they can arise from different causes such as ambiguity, atypicality, mislabeling, or out-of-distribution samples.

I also discussed how training dynamics can help identify and study these difficult cases, and why combining data-centric and model-centric perspectives is useful for understanding persistent model failures.

Introduction to Data Science

I taught a part of the Introduction to Data Science course to MS-level students.

During this class, I introduced supervised classification through decision trees, random forests, and boosting methods, using practical notebooks on weather and breast cancer datasets.

The course focused on model training, hyperparameter tuning, and evaluation with metrics such as accuracy, AUC, ROC curves, confusion matrices, and feature importance analysis.

Overall, the sessions helped students understand the difference between single models and ensemble methods, while developing a practical data science workflow from data preparation to interpretation.

At the University of Lille, I mentored middle and high school girls every Wednesday through introductory coding sessions as part of the Pixelles initiative. The program also included meetings with women in science and technology, helping participants discover both programming and scientific career paths in an encouraging environment.
